About Us

Paddy Cocking - Owner
Hi, my name is Paddy I am the founder of Parentwise. I set up Parentwise in January 2010 offering quality midwife led birth preparation classes to parents to be in Exeter, Devon. I have been a registered midwife for 27 years. I am passionate about what I do and ensuring couples are adequately prepared for this amazing journey to parenthood. Aiming to preserve and enhance a woman's independence, dignity and actively encouraging the involvement of family and close friends.
As a mother of three myself I know how special becoming a parent can be... a little daunting too! I took the steps to have antenatal classes in addition to the NHS classes with my husband. In my opinion it was the best thing we did. The friends we made we still keep in touch with 25 years later. We all supported each other through those tough first weeks.
My aim is to deliver great courses with lots of laughter along the way. I am a member of the Royal College of Midwives and my practice is regulated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council. We are fully insured for practice.

Katharyn Harding - Trainer
Hello! My name is Katharyn. I am honoured and excited to join Paddy and become part of the Parentwise team this year.
A Midwife for 11 years, I have worked in Manchester, then Melbourne, Australia for 5 years before having a year at the Royal Devon and Exeter hospital. Over the years I have worked in labour wards, birth centres, wards, community settings, theatres, triages and clinics. I loved keeping up experiences across all areas, but my one main love has always been education and building relationships with women and their families. My passion sits within the opportunity to empower women. I thoroughly believe that knowledge is power, and the more you understand, the stronger and more confident you will feel as your pregnancy progresses and the birth of your baby unfolds.
I held my own antenatal education classes in Melbourne for 3 years before moving back to England in 2020, where I have also been busy raising three beautiful little babies of my own. Becoming a Mummy myself has given me a new level of understanding of the journey we go on, and I now have lots of personal experience to draw upon as well as a huge bank of stories from within this incredible vocation.
I look forward to meeting you all, and thank you for choosing us to share this incredible time of your life with.
